Game development started to skew more towards features and fidelity as opposed to resolution, meaning that the period covered by part two of our video looks pretty lean for the purposes of our story, even though the console's fortunes were improving overall. And with a couple of years of development under their belts, at least there was movement in the right direction for multi-platform titles. Big exclusives like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift were crowd pleasers, the console received a welcome price-cut and mistakes of the past were rectified - rumble returned to PlayStation controllers, for starters. Still, moving into 2008, Sony made plenty of agreeable moves for its console. we bore witness to one unmitigated triumph, but elsewhere, the full HD picture wasn't quite as crystal clear as we might have hoped. This second part continues into the PS3's 'difficult' period, where first-party triple-A juggernauts were thin on the ground with the 'Triple' still struggled to compete in them multi-platform arena up against Xbox 360. ![]() In the first episode, we tracked the PS3's beginnings, why Sony targeted 1080p in its marketing and what the final games looked like in the first couple of years of the console's life cycle. This is DF Retro's most expansive project yet, spanning an entire console generation, with John Linneman looking to track full HD support for Sony's eighth generation machine including some of the best - and the worst - titles for the system. There are some extra cake pieces on the middle islands, but dragging these - and the Princess - across the water is not a good idea! If you reach the enemy walls, consider building siege weapons instead of attacking the doors. Make the castle walls even more breach-able are catapults in both castles that lead right to the others and ample ladder and spring building points ("siege weapons").īeware of spending too much time in the water - although hopping across the river (jumping minimizes damage) is a great way to sneak across the level. Break the boulders to get to these and, if you've captured the tower below, you can toss metal ore right into it. The metal sources on this map are located in the middle north section. The broken cover can be repaired by a Worker. Use this to make a speedy getaway from the enemy's stronghold. Beat the wood covering off of this portal and you can use it to warp to a location on the nearest river's edge. These serve as sort of a "back door" for whomever controls the tower.Īnother warp lies in the Princess's cell. One set of these one-way warps leads from the southern towers on both sides of the map to the fortress on their respective sides. Two warp areas can help you get in and out of your enemy's fortress with ease. ![]() This Black Forest map is not as straightforward as it lets on.
